Thoughts on 2x12 and the Rest of Dollhouse....
So I just watched the latest Dollhouse epp, and while I enjoyed it while I watched it, ultimately I think I'm feeling more disappointed than happy with things....:(

So while watching this episode, I for the most part enjoyed it--I loved Topher (way to go, saving the day at the end!), and Boyd's demise, and getting Boyd's motivation (that he realized he had created technology that would start the apocalypse, figured if the tech would exist one day, it might as well be in his control, so jump-started it, and needed to find a solution, and Echo was the solution), and Mellie and her sad demise, Paul/Mellie, lots of excited action scenes, loved Topher!Victor again, and Adelle and Tony and Priya...

But overall, as I think about it more, and as I realize that this is Amy Acker's LAST episode, I'm finding myself feeling a lot more disappointed than happy--and VERY frustrated!

Namely that, after ALL this time WAITING, we never got to see Saunders again! I feel so CHEATED! In some ways I think I might wish she never returned at all, rather than just have the body return (I like Acker, I do, but it's not her I wanted to see, but her character Claire!)....this just feels cheap, and frustrating. I so wanted to see her again, see if she had any new perspective, see her interact with Topher again (one of my favorite dynamics of the show) and maybe have some more resolution there, see more of her storyline (which had so much potential!) of being in her situation, that of a created persona, the questions of if she has a right to stay in that body, finding out perhaps who her original personality was, what happened to her immediately after she left--we will never find out ANY of this, even when she got evicted and how, probably, since Boyd is gone now too....and it frustrates and disappoints me! :( Not to mention the lack of explanation for how she returns for EO, as seen in 1x13...

I mean, I knew Topher/Claire was never going to have a happy ending, it's not that kind of ship, but still, I was hoping for some more interaction PERIOD--I've never had a ship before that had this problem, with it not getting time because one of the actors was unavailable! I don't know what's worse, this situation or on Merlin when they actors are both there, and we don't get to see them interact anyway...*sigh* Oh well, so much for that, and all those expectations....the T/C seduction scene in 2x01 remains as my favorite of the series.

I'm also annoyed we won't learn why she killed Bennett (BIG question guys!), esp. when Topher walked in specifically, when it seems she was Clyde the whole time there....*sigh*

So I was both happy and extremely disappointed by this epp--and also left with a kind of WTF feeling at the end--I mean, they destroy the tech, and all the equipment and Boyd, and the apocalypse STILL happens? :s Okaaay....(Really, this means then that Topher figuring out how to make the tech work in 10 min in this epp has no bearing on the apocalypse, since he destroyed that and Boyd and obviously wasn't going to repeat it to anyone! But someone must have figured it out anyway....)

I am really curious to see what happens next epp...

For anyone else who saw it, what did you all think?

I feel so CHEATED!
Me too, my friend, me too.

Someone pointed out to me (and I'm starting to agree) though that there were a lot of ways it could have been spilled. Back up copies of the plans, back up copies of Boyd himself, scientists who weren't killed.

I suppose so, re: back-up copies and such, although tbh I actually forgot about this plot point (it's been 4 years already, good Lord!). Boyd made copies of himself? Forgot that too!

I do remember thinking the Boyd reveal was really stupid/probably something Joss Whedon came up with later rather than something in the plan all along. Like I think it might even have been a "we are getting canceled and have to wrap up quickly, why not make Boyd be the villain as a shortcut?" thing. *sigh* I disliked the idea of Claire/Boyd from 1x13, but the reveal made it even worse, that she died because she trusted the wrong person.

Oh, we never learn that Boyd made back up copies, I just meant that he could have done so.

Mmm, I was on the fence about the Boyd reveal. Honestly, thematically it made sense, but the way it was played out by the actor (and not by the script, tbh, I thought the script was ok) made it jarring.

And then I read this post and suddenly I liked the twist a lot. Lol.

OH GOD BOYD/CLAIRE MADE ME SO UNCOMFORTABLE. AND THEN I HATED IT.
