Merlin season 2.....
Oy. So I've watched the first two episodes of Merlin, and while the second episode was much better than the first story-wise, I had some other, er, problems with it....

Well it seems that all of my greatest fears about season 2 in regards to Arthur/Gwen are coming true, although in a way even worse than I feared! :( I mean UGH! The A/G being forced down our throats at 90 miles per hour in this episode made me want to shoot myself in the face! Seriously, never did I imagine that the kiss seen in the overall series trailer would be A) REAL and not a dream, and b) IN ONLY THE SECOND EFFING EPISODE!!! Give me a fucking break! This is even faster and more rushed than I feared it would be! So much for a "slow burn" between them! *rolleyes* And so much for my meager hopes of at least a kiss or *something* happening between Arthur/Morgana before he "discovers" and moves on to Guinevere--you know, after they built up all that UST and attraction between them! On their inspiration show Smallville you don't see Clark ending up with Lois in 2x02! It's absurd, you have a whole series and you're already rushing headlong into Arthur/Gwen? I mean, are we really supposed to believe he falls in love with Gwen enough to already be kissing her in the space of ONE episode?! >:( Come on!

I would not be so annoyed with all of these developments either had they not initially established Arthur/Morgana as a potential romantic pairing (along with Merlin/Gwen, etc) only to randomly drop it like a potato in order to give Gwen something to do besides arranging flowers--yes, that is apparently the rationale of rushing into A/G according to Bradley James in an interview, giving Gwen a storyline, since apparently she can only be defined by her romance with Arthur! *rolleyes* So yeah, today any hope I have of *something* romantic between Arthur/Morgana happening has officially died--Capp's comment about "Arthur and Morgana's story being far from over" be damned, I think he's just talking about in a sibling way, or even if something did happen it would probably be because he can't be with Gwen because of Uther, which is just as bad....

And what was with the lack of Morgana? Would it have killed them to show her cheering every once in a while, maybe one of her for every say 5 Uther and Gwen cheering shots?! And what, they couldn't trust her to be in on the Arthur thing? The Arthur/Merlin slashers really don't have much to complain about, Arthur/Merlin will always be interacting, but it appears that the writers do not know how to make Gwen and Arthur and Morgana and Arthur interact with each other in the same episode, and so as a result we get NOTHING whenever they roll out some forced!A/G interaction....we barely got any Morgana last epp either, and like no words exchanged between Morgana and Arthur even while she was tending to him, which you could barely see anyway--so much for that promising promo pic we saw! :(

And the sad thing is that overall, besides the absurd, deliberate lack of Morgana (because they definitely could have at the very least interspersed a few more shots of her cheering, they do EVERY OTHER TIME on the show when they have a tournament, why not this time? In fact, why wasn't Gwen sitting with Morgana like she *always* is? She wasn't even present at one of the tournaments for some reason, like an excuse not to show her! Like they can't be showing Morgana during the A/G lest we remember that last time we checked Arthur thought Morgana was beautiful...) and the ridiculously accelerated A/G (also bad last week, with the writers literally shoving her in Arthur's way, much as they are shoving A/G in our way--like Gwen was really wandering outside the castle looking for more bandages?), it was a pretty great, funny, interesting episode. So many hilarious moments, the assassin plot line was thrilling....But the manhandling of the romantic plot lines ruins it! >:( Any chance of me growing to like A/G is being lost the way they are doing things right now....

Also, how on earth did those little pert white blossoms stay alive in Gwen's hair for so long?! It looked stupid and fake, her having fresh blossoms woven into her hair two days in a row....it goes along with her ridiculous dress. Basically it's clear that they are dressing her up in non!servant getup (not to mention an outfit that really shows off her bust) to make Arthur notice her more and to make Arthur/Gwen seem less socially out of place, but really, if they want to do the Prince/Maid thing, they need to do it legitimately, not cheat like with the dress....*sigh* /rant

At least next week's epp looks FANTASTIC! I hope there is barely any Gwen in it, to make up for this week's total imbalance...:p But seriously, it's about time that Morgana develop some real magic, and the way the dragon refers to her as "the sorceress"....Hell yeah! :D

As for my other shows, I'm really behind on things, but GG also had a less-than-impressive premiere that was followed by a much improved second episode, the Bones premiere was the best one yet IMO (as Bones usually has pretty crappy premieres), and Vampire Diaries has been surprisingly decent the first two epps--I am definitely going to continue watching, and not just because of Ian Somerhalder's sexy self! :p  Dollhouse I still have to watch the season 1 finale of....I don't know if I can get to it this fall, I might catch up over break and have it take Merlin's place once Merlin ends.

No, it's not, with Morgana barely even appearing and not even speaking in the last epp! *rolleyes* Though at least next episode looks epic and all nice and Morgana-centric! Honestly, I am even more of just a plain Morgana fan than anything else, so if she's not in an epp it's going to piss me off no matter what else is going on!

because the second episode of the second season after barely any worthwhile interaction between the two of them is not the right time to be having the kissing.

Yeah that sums it up for me as well! Though I am disappointed too that there is definitely not going to be any A/Mor in season 2 now....really, this should have been the season of A/Mor, they deserved their chance as well, especially with the initial set-up....:( I might have grown to appreciate A/G in time, but not when it's going this fast!

So what did you end up thinking of the epp, anyway? As I said I liked it mostly, but those few things bugged me too much to fully enjoy it...

Uh what about about Steven R. McQueen, and Paul Wesley? They're pretty good looking too!
And GG was awesome, how about that Christian group Blair brought in?

Meh, Paul Wesley is growing on me, but I still don't find him as hot as Ian Sommerhalder, and McQueen doesn't do it for me much....

Yes, GG has improved a lot since the premiere, I did like the last two epps. Though I still find Scott creepy...

... I liked it. Plus I like Morgana becoming a witch.

Well of course I like Morgana becoming a witch as well! I've been waiting for it to happen, and I do look forward to this upcoming Saturday's episode with great anticipation. As for last week's epp, I liked most of it, but the Arthur/Gwen thing (especially the kiss! Already! After one episode they fall in love that much?!) and the SEVERE lack of my favorite character (the one I'm most interested in seeing each epp) Morgana--the fact that she was in it for less than a minute (when easily she could have been in more crowd shots) and didn't speak one like just annoyed me too much for me to fully enjoy the episode. I feel like she gets the worse treatment by the writers of everyone....

But I'm glad you're still watching along though! We should watch an episode together at some point...
