Day 10 – A show you thought you wouldn’t like but ended up loving:

When I first heard the premise and saw the trailers for this show, I was pretty unimpressed and unfazed. I didn’t really care that it was a new Joss Whedon project (I have never been a huge fangirl of his or of the school of thought that believes he is a god, even if I like many of the shows he began), or share in the immense excitement or anticipation that I saw for it on BF and elsewhere in the Whedon fandom; the premise just seemed stupid or lame, and the trailers didn’t appear all that interesting either. It took me a while to start watching it as well, I didn't get around to it until nearly the end of last summer, and then it took me a while to watch the first few episodes, many of which were not available in the usual places (I was actually forced to buy "Stage Fright" to watch it, ugh). But soon enough (around episodes 4 or 5) it grew on me, and I really came to love this show, and was heartbroken over its premature cancellation! :( It was one of my favorite shows last fall, the one that I looked forward to seeing most from week to week.

I don't quite like how it ended, but I still liked most of it, especially certain characters like Topher, Adelle, and Clare, who are all so rich and complex and interesting. The concept itself is also rather intriguing and thought-provoking, making this a more intelligent show than most on TV these days. And finally there was some really phenomenal acting, especially on the part of Enver Gjokaj, who is perhaps the most talented actor I have ever seen on TV (the way he was able to imitate/mimic so many different people to perfection was just incredible). Fran Kranz (Topher) and Olivia Williams (Adelle) were also fantastic, as well as the ever-talented Amy Acker; I really wish stupid Joss had made her a regular so that she could have been on the show in more of season 2, rather than film the even more short-lived "Happy Town"--I think the season really lacked something without her, and of course it really messed with my OTP for the show, Topher/Claire...:s

So in short, I'm very glad that I gave this show a chance and watched it before it got canceled, despite my earlier reservations.

Hopefully I will be better at keeping up with this now that I have written out most of the replies in advance!
